The Liberal Democrats held the four seats they were defending in Hampshire at the General Election and made a significant advance in the County Council elections.
Hampshire County Council now has 45 Conservative councillors, 28 Lib Dems and just four Labour members.
Lib Dem candidates polled almost a quarter of a million votes across the county in the local elections last Thursday. At the last elections in 2001, the party won 19 seats on Hampshire County Council.
